Trudeau Liberals prioritizing rights of Canada’s violent and dangerous criminals

Ottawa, ON – Pierre Paul-Hus, Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued a statement following the tabling of legislation by the Trudeau government that proposes to eliminate the use of solitary confinement:

“Solitary confinement is a common and legitimate safety measure many Western countries take to protect guards from dangerous and volatile prisoners.

“It is clear from the tabling of this legislation that the Trudeau Liberals are prioritizing the rights of Canada’s most violent and dangerous criminals ahead of the rights of victims.

“Instead of changing the Corrections and Conditional Release Act to make sure killers like Terri-Lynn McClintic are kept behind bars, Justin Trudeau is softening the law to make prison time easier for criminals.
“The Prime Minister continues to demonstrate both a shocking indifference for victims and a disturbing compassion for criminals.

“Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives will continue to hold the Trudeau Liberals accountable when it comes to their soft on crime agenda.”
