Trudeau Liberals must end cover-up at Defence Committee

May 26, 2021, Ottawa, ON – James Bezan, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence, Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, and Leona Alleslev, MP for Aurora—Oak Ridges—Richmond Hill, released the following statement calling on the Trudeau Liberals to end their cover-up of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces at the Defence Committee:

“For over a week, the Trudeau Liberals have been talking out the clock and suspending meetings of the Defence Committee in order to block a key witness from testifying on the cover-up of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces.

“Instead of moving forward to complete our work by hearing from a key witness on Justin Trudeau’s cover-up and finish off a report into sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Liberals would rather hide the truth from Canadians and obstruct the work of the Defence Committee. This has to stop.

“That is why Canada’s Conservatives are calling on the Trudeau Liberals to stop blocking the work of the Defence Committee and end their cover-up of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces. The actions of Liberal members on the committee is a disservice to the brave women and men in uniform. The Armed Forces deserve better.

“With Justin Trudeau and the Liberals, this is what Canadians can expect. More scandals and more cover-ups. There is only one option to bring back ethical government to Ottawa – Canada’s Conservatives.”
