Trudeau Liberals double down on unsafe hotel quarantine program

June 3 2021, Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Shannon Stubbs, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, issued the following statement on the news that the Trudeau Liberals are doubling the fine for Canadians who refuse to take part in the failed hotel quarantine program:

“On the heels of an expert government report calling for the end of Justin Trudeau’s disastrous hotel quarantine program, the Liberal government has decided to double the fines for Canadians who refuse to take part in the program.

“For a party that has repeatedly claimed it’s listening to science, the Trudeau Liberals are instead determined to continue supporting the hotel quarantine program. This is an extremely hypocritical position for the Trudeau government to take.

“Instead of increasing the fine for Canadians refusing to take part in their unsafe hotel quarantine, the Trudeau Liberals must listen to the science and immediately scrap their disastrous program.

“Canadian’s can’t afford more pandemic mismanagement from Justin Trudeau. Canada’s Conservatives will continue to call on the Liberal government to scrap this program and put pressure on the Liberals for a better pandemic response.”
