Report confirms Trudeau Liberals failed to act on sexual misconduct in CAF

June 1 2021, James Bezan, Conservative Shadow Minister for National Defence, Pierre Paul-Hus, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Services and Procurement, and Leona Alleslev, MP for Aurora—Oak Ridges—Richmond Hill, released the following statement on the Third Independent Review of the National Defence Act:

“The damning Independent Review of the National Defence Act confirms what Conservatives have been saying for months, the Trudeau Liberals failed to act on the issue of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces for six years.

“It’s clear that the Liberals sat on the recommendations from the last report into sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces and instead of taking action to fix this issue – Justin Trudeau has asked for another report. This is a failure of leadership from Justin Trudeau and this Liberal government.

“Enough is enough. The status quo must immediately change. Our women and men in uniform deserve better than this.

“When it comes to sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces, Canadians can’t afford more inaction and cover-ups from the Trudeau Liberals. Canada’s Conservatives are the only party that will fix the issue of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces and restore confidence in our military.”
